website redesign
Website redesign for an old site, with links mapped and kept
Website redesign refreshes the structure and visual design of an existing site, with staging review before the approved changes go live. Redirects and migration tasks are scoped to the current site.
Signs your site needs a redesign
It opens on a phone and the buttons and text overlap. It loads slowly and visitors leave. You cannot edit a page without calling the old developer. The look no longer matches your brand today. Or you pay for ads and the clicks land on pages that convince nobody. The previous developer may also have left plugins unpatched, which makes the site open to a hack.
A redesign deals with these together, but it needs care. An old site holds pages that took years to appear in Google, and changing addresses without a plan erases that visibility.
How we protect your visibility during the refresh
An audit of the current site
We open the site as it is: which pages bring visits, which attract links from other sites, and which nobody visits. We use Google Search Console and analytics if you give us access, plus a link crawl.
A map of addresses
For each important old page we decide its fate: it stays at its address, moves to a new address with a permanent 301 redirect, or merges into a stronger page. No page that brings visits is deleted without a replacement.
Content
We keep the text that works and improve the weak parts: clearer headings, shorter paragraphs, FAQs. If you need new copy, see website content writing.
Testing before publishing
The new site is built on a staging link hidden from Google. There we compare old and new addresses and check redirects, then move it to your domain. After the move we submit the new sitemap to Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster, and watch for errors in the following weeks.
What changes in the design
Mobile first
Most of your visitors arrive on phones. We design pages for the phone, then widen them for desktop, with buttons that are easy to press, readable type, short forms and a fixed WhatsApp button.
A structure that leads to an enquiry
The main menu shrinks to what a visitor needs. Each service page answers: what do I get, how long does it take, why trust you, how do I start. It ends in one clear button.
Speed
We compress images, remove heavy plugins and set up caching, aiming for 85 or more on mobile PageSpeed. See website speed optimisation.
Two languages
An Arabic version and an English one, each page with its own address, so visitors and Google find each language.
Control over content
We build a simple editor so you can change text and images yourself, and we hand over videos that show how.
Security
We update WordPress and plugins, install Wordfence for protection and set up backups. The quote sets out the security and maintenance work included in your project.
What we check before moving the new site
- Every important old page has a new address or a 301 redirect, and there are no 404 errors on the main visit paths.
- Titles and descriptions exist and differ on every page, and images have alt text.
- Contact forms reach your email, and the WhatsApp button opens the right number.
- The site works in several browsers and on different phones.
- The SSL certificate is valid and the site opens on https without a warning.
- The sitemap is ready for Google and Bing, and analytics records visits.
- A backup of the old site is saved before anything changes.
We go through this list with you before you give us the go-ahead. Our article a website acceptance checklist goes into more detail.
An example: Al Aqsa Engineering
PROIDEA Egypt designed the Al Aqsa Engineering website in Arabic with photo galleries and provided SEO, SSL and a move to a new domain. Read the story.
Project steps
- A 20-minute call. What bothers you about the current site and what must stay.
- A written quote that sets the scope and timeline.
- Audit and address map.
- A design you approve on desktop and mobile before any coding.
- Build and test on a staging link that you check yourself.
- Move to your domain, connect Search Console, Bing and analytics, and hand over a file and training videos.
What you receive
A new site in the approved design, a redirect map, Search Console, Bing, Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity connected, a handover file, training videos for your team and a Google Business Profile setup.
Packages and the written quote
The right package depends on your site’s size. A site of up to 5 pages in Arabic and English takes 10 working days after we receive content and photos. A company site of up to 15 pages with custom design, a blog and full SEO takes 3 to 4 weeks. The written quote fixes the scope and the timeline for your case, and we start after you approve it.
Frequently asked questions
Rankings of some pages can move for a while after any major change, and nobody can promise a fixed outcome. We lower the risk by keeping important addresses, redirecting anything that changes with a 301, and watching Search Console after launch.
We keep what works and improve what needs it. We review it with you page by page and write what is missing.
