website migration
Ecommerce store migration with products and important links accounted for
Ecommerce store migration plans the move of agreed products, pages and links to a new platform or host. Redirects, testing and the timing of the domain change are confirmed before the move.
Ecommerce store migration: what the service covers
An old platform does not support the payment or shipping you need. Its apps cost more every year. It cannot carry your growing catalogue. Or you have started selling in Saudi Arabia and want a store on a platform your customers there know, such as Salla or Zid. Or you want a new domain that fits your brand, or faster hosting.
The risk is that an unplanned move leaves products missing, old orders unreachable and links that return “page not found”. You lose visibility and customers who saved your addresses.
What we move and how
Products and categories
Names, descriptions, prices, images, variants such as colour and size, stock and codes. We use the platform's import tools and CSV files and review a sample with you. In the OOYAA store, for instance, there are 51 products and 261 variants, each colour linked to its own image, and a structure like that needs exact matching before import. Read the story.
Pages and blog
Core pages and articles with their images, titles and descriptions. We keep the addresses of whatever brings visits and improve the rest.
Customers and orders
Customer records and order history usually move, as far as the two platforms allow. Passwords, however, do not move on most platforms, so customers reset them at first login. We tell you before we start and prepare a message for your customers.
Addresses and redirects
We build a table matching every important old address to a new one and apply permanent 301 redirects. Anyone who saved your link, or taps it in Google results, reaches the right page, and most of the trust that link earned carries over.
Payment, shipping and settings
We set up payment gateways, couriers, taxes, currencies and notifications again on the new platform and test them. See payment and shipping integration.
Tracking and tools
We reconnect Google Analytics, Search Console, Bing, the Meta pixel and ad conversions so measurement does not break.
Common destinations
- To Salla or to Zid for sellers in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf. See Salla stores and Zid stores.
- To Shopify for a flexible international store. See Shopify stores.
- To WooCommerce on WordPress for full control of the site and content.
- From an old site to modern WordPress. See website redesign.
- To a new domain or host without changing platform, as we did for Al Aqsa Engineering.
How we keep downtime short
We build the whole new store on a staging link while the old one keeps trading. You test an order, payment and shipping yourself. Then we choose a quiet hour for the switch, change the DNS records, enable SSL and watch the first orders. The old store keeps a backup to fall back on.
You should not add products or change prices on the old store during the final move. We set a freeze point with you, and can replay orders placed after it by hand if needed. Our article before you move your store to a new platform has a longer list of what to prepare.
What we test right after the move
- A full order with online payment and with cash on delivery, from phone and desktop.
- A new customer account, and a password reset for a migrated customer.
- Important old links opening the new pages through a working 301.
- Shipping and tax calculation for two different countries or cities.
- Emails and notifications arriving correctly.
- Measurement events recorded in analytics and in the ad accounts.
We repeat the test after the real switch as well, because some problems show up only on the live domain.
Project steps
- A call about the current platform and the reason for the move.
- A written quote that sets the scope and timeline.
- An inventory of what moves and the address map.
- Build the new version and design it as you approve.
- Import and review on a staging link.
- Move to the domain, reconnect the tools, watch the first days, and hand over a file and training videos.
What you prepare
Admin access to the old platform and your domain panel, a list of the apps in use, an export of products if possible, a decision on what does not need to move, and the freeze-point decision.
What you receive
A new store or site working on the chosen platform, a 301 redirect map, tested payment and shipping gateways, connected measurement tools, a handover file and training videos.
Packages and the written quote
We review what you need, then send a written quote that sets the scope, timeline and deliverables. The written quote fixes the scope and the timeline. For reference, a Shopify store in our package takes 2 to 3 weeks and a starter site 10 working days. We start after you approve the quote.
Frequently asked questions
Rankings can shift for a while. We reduce that with 301 redirects for every important address, by keeping titles and descriptions, and by watching Search Console after the move. A fixed outcome cannot be promised.
Customer records usually move, but passwords do not on most platforms, so customers set a new one. We prepare a message that explains it to them.
No. The old store runs until the switch. Adding products may pause briefly at the final import, and we agree the time with you.
From most platforms that allow data export or have an API. Send the platform name and address and we check feasibility before we agree.
Often not. The domain usually stays with its registrar and we only change the records. We explain the steps, and we do not need your personal account password if you give us a limited-access role.
Move to a better platform without losing your products and links
Send your current store address and the platform you want, and we reply with a written quote that sets the scope and timeline.
